PRACTICE POLICIES

This is an outline of some of the office policies. This is included here so that perspective clients can review in advance to make sure this office is a good fit and so that current clients have easy access to the policies. For full policies clients may see the document signed at intake which is available in the client portal.

APPOINTMENTS AND CANCELLATIONS

Sessions are available both in office or through telehealth. You must be physically located in a state that therapist is licensed in for telehealth sessions. During telehealth sessions you must confirm location each week.

Once you and your therapist have identified an appointment time, it is booked as a reoccurring weekly appointment. This is to ensure your preferred appointment time is reserved for you. If you have plans to travel or need to reschedule please let your therapist know in advance. You will also have access to the client portal which allows you to reschedule or cancel appointments within the next two weeks. Clients participate in weekly sessions until they achieve their therapeutic goals. Occasionally, clients may choose to step down to biweekly sessions after a majority of their goals are achieved and they’re getting ready to transition to graduating therapy. When that happens, appointment times are limited to match up calendar spots with other biweekly appointments. At times, clients may choose to check in monthly after they have achieved treatment goals. They are welcome to self schedule these appointments through the client portal up to two weeks in advance.

Please remember to cancel or reschedule a minimum of 48 hours in advance. Cancellations and re-scheduled session will be subject to a full charge if not received more than 48 hours in advance. This is necessary because a time commitment is made to you and is held exclusively for you. If you are late for a session, you may lose some of that session time. If you are ever sick, please take care of yourself and reschedule your session as soon as possible. You may also choose to move an in office appointment to telehealth. If you do cancel through the client portal, please send a note through the secure message center so that the reason for cancellation can be documented appropriately.

If I ever need to cancel a session, I will make efforts to notify clients as soon as possible.

All clients must have a credit or debit card on file. For your convenience, cards on file will be charged automatically day of session. If you need to make adjustments to your payment method please let me know prior to that day’s appointment. Cash or check is acceptable for in person payments if needed .

If you need to contact me between sessions, please leave a message on my voicemail or send a message through the client portal. I am often not immediately available; however, I will attempt to return your message within 48 hours or the next business day (Tues-Fri).

In the event of a medical or psychiatric emergency or an emergency involving a thread to your safety or the safety of others, please call 911 to request emergency assistance. Additionally, the San Diego Access & Crisis Line is an available resource for emergencies and can be reached at 1-888-724-7240. The crisis text line is available 24/7 by texting HOME to 741741 and the Suicide Prevention Lifeline is available 24/7 at 800-273-8255.

If there are any phone (or other unscheduled contact) between sessions which last more than 10 minutes there will be a charge that’s prorated based on the hourly rate.
